SUKKUR, Nov 8: A couple who had decided to get married in court against the wishes of their parents were saved by police when some people tried to kidnap them from outside the district and sessions court of Khairpur on Tuesday.
Reports reaching here said that four men in a car chased Lal Zadi of Dera Allah Yar of Balochistan and Shabbir Ahmed Solangi of Khairpur to the court and tried to kidnap them. A scuffle took place which alerted police in a nearby court who rushed to arrest the alleged kidnappers identified as Abdul Manan, Jawed Umrani, Abdul Latif Domki and Mohammad Hanif Solangi.
Police took the couple in their custody.
KILLED: A man gunned down his married niece on Tuesday night over suspicions she had illicit relations with somebody in Shamsuddin Suhriani village in the jurisdiction of B section police station of Kandhkot.
Reports reaching here said that Rasool Bux Suhriani shot dead Shafia, wife of Tufail Ahmed Suhriani, 22, suspecting she had illicit relations with Nawaz Ali Sabzoi.
Police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of Shamsuddin but have so far made no arrest.
KIDNAPPED: Six armed men kidnapped five Shaikh women from Bhagio Bhambhro village in the jurisdiction of Salehpat police station near here on late Tuesday night.
The armed people held family members of Koro, son of Majid Shaikh, at gunpoint, kidnapped Momal, wife of Koro Shaikh, his two daughters, Khanzadi, and Ameero, Shamim, daughter of Mitho Shaikh, and Ameeran Begum, wife of Mitho Shaikh, and drove them away in a car and motorcycles.
After getting information about the incident, police raided the Hashim Magsi village and arrested five suspects including Qalandar Bux.
Police also claimed to have found the car, which was allegedly used in the kidnapping but had so far not registered any case
Villagers claimed that the women’s kidnapping might be in retaliation for Ms Koonj Magsi’s marriage six months ago with Mauj Ali Shaikh of her own free will, which had sparked enmity between the two communities.
INJURED: Eleven people, including women, were injured in a clash between two groups in Mithri village near Kotdiji town on Tuesday.
The two groups were at daggers drawn over a land dispute for eight years.
