MULTAN, Nov 8: A local court released 17 people imprisoned by an owner of a brick kiln here on Wednesday. Iqbal Hussain filed a petition in the court that Ajab Khan had detained his 17 relatives with the connivance of Seetal Mari police SHO. The plaintiff stated that the kiln owner had made a bogus documents and he constrained them to work on his kiln.

KILLED: Five people were killed in two accidents here on Wednesday.

Reports said Shaheen Sarwar of Green Town, Abdul Majeed of Alipur, Zulfiqar and Muhammad Iqbal of Manzoorabad were killed when a speeding truck (MNA-8116) hit their Faisalabad-bound car (MLM-613) near Rango bridge on Kabirwala bypass.

Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Shujabad, was killed and his brother Zahid Husain injured when a speeding vehicle struck against their motorcycle near Mill Phatak, Muzaffarabad. The injured was rushed to Nishter Hospital.

OPEN MANHOLE: A five-year-old girl died after falling into an open manhole in Khanewal on Wednesday.

Faizan Bibi of Shamkot fell into the manhole in front of the main gate of the school. The body has been recovered.

ACID VICTIM: A man threw acid on a girl over a trifle here on Wednesday.

Reports said Abdul Sattar of Masoom Shah allegedly threw acid on Sughran Bibi (17). Her parents removed her to a private hospital from where they shifted her to Nishter Hospital in a critical condition.

Makhdoom Rahsid police have registered a case under Section 324 and 452/34.

Separate province: The voice for creating a separate province in South Punjab will be raised in the Punjab Assembly in the next session.

This was stated by MPA Dr Javed Siddiqui in a press release issued here. He said a separate province was necessary to defend the people of southern Punjab against deprivation. All political parties from the area should be united for the cause.
