Grade IV workers get 15pc raise

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Nov 7: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani on Tuesday approved a raise of Rs500 per month for grade IV employees from Nov 1.

The decision was taken during a meeting presided over by the chief minister. He signed the summary presented by finance department.

According to the decision, posting on BPS-1 class-IV employees in education, health, public health, engineering, works & services, irrigation, agriculture, animal husbandry and forest takes place on fixed salary. At this time there are 17,940 such employees in the province.

Earlier on July 1, 15 per cent raise was announced by the government in the salaries of government servants. Keeping in view the rising prices it was felt necessary to increase in salaries of these employees.

The raise will cost the provincial exchequer an additional amount of Rs71.7 million per year.
