KARACHI, Nov 7: Normal shipping activity was witnessed at the port where two vessels carrying containers occupied berths at the QICT during the last 24 hours, says a press release.

Four more ships scheduled to load/unload containers, cement, edible oil and furnace oil arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.

Berth occupancy was recorded at 60 per cent at the port where a total of six ships were occupying berths to load/offload containers, seeds, wheat, edible oil and chemicals, respectively.

The port handled a cargo volume of 44,747 tons comprising 32,422 tons of imports and 12,325 tons of exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,125 Teus.

Six vessels are currently at the outer anchorage. These are Manyas-1 (cement), Hyderabad (rice), Tassels (furnace oil), Central Success (edible oil), Madura (edible oil), Maersk Peterhead (containers) and Genco Knight (seeds).
