Vehicles’ enrolment without ST continues

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 6: The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department is delaying for more than four months in issuing instructions to its officials to register vehicles only after the sales tax is paid and the invoice of the dealer is attached with the registration application.

The 2006-07 federal budget made it obligatory to all the four provinces to instruct their respective excise and taxation officials to register the invoice of the dealer so that at one time the manufacturer-cum-assembler, the dealer and the buyer is registered with the sales tax authority.

In a communication the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has drawn the attention of the Sindh excise and taxation authorities that the other provinces -- Punjab, NWFP and Balochistan -- have issued instructions according to the provisions of the federal budget but “some ambiguity persists in Sindh”.

The PAMA has sent a copy of the instructions issued by Punjab government for the benefit of Sindh excise and taxation.
