ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: The main attraction of Loi Bhir Safari Park, Moti the lion, died at 10pm Sunday night. The 25-year-old lion had been brought to the park from Lahore Zoo a few years ago, but now he had became sick. “We tried to revive him by giving glucose, but the lion did not recover,” park’s Assistant Game Warden Mr Bhatti told Dawn on Monday.

“We would know the cause of death after we receive the postmortem report from the animal diagnostic laboratory in Rawalpindi,” said Mr Bhatti.

Moti was the only lion at the Safari Park which now has two lionesses. There is also an aviary showcasing a huge variety of pheasants and birds.

The park draws a large number of people on Sundays to drive among animals like lions, deer etc., living in natural surroundings. It fetches an annual income of Rs1 million.
