KARACHI, Nov 6: The Lyari Development Authority (LDA) will soon launch a project to supply pure water to the residents of Hawkesbay Housing Scheme. This was stated by the director-general, LDA, Mohammad Sarfaraz Khan, while talking to a delegation, headed by Water Security Corporation, USA, Gerald Colombo, who called on him at his office on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the LDA official said that provision of potable water was among the top priorities of the present government.

The US delegation informed that their company had developed the system of providing t contamination-free water for NASA and recently they had given detailed presentation about the system in question to President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

The LDA official asked the delegation to design a plant for Hawkesbay Scheme and directed the officials concerned to send water samples from Baech Avenue for analysis to Mr Colombo so that he could design a plant for the LDA.

Meanwhile, the Mr Sarfaraz directed the officials concerned to examine the installation of two plants for provision of pure water to the residents of the Lyari Expressway rehabilitation colony and asked the officials to finalise the ongoing schemes of potable water in two months.—PPI
