Case filed against four devotees
RAWALPINDI, Nov 5: The local police have registered an “attempt to murder” case against four of the devotees who had served the milk at a shrine on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The case was registered against a woman, her daughter and their two male companions who had come to the Dayvil Sharif shrine from Lahore to offer milk and confectionery to the devotees as a gesture to pay their gratitude to God after they were blessed with a baby boy.
Among the devotees, there was a police head constable who had also tasted the milk but remained safe.
Within minutes of drinking the milk, the women started falling unconscious, which created panic in the shrine. The women serving the milk along with their male companions were handed over to the police by the other pilgrims.
“The investigations conducted by the police so far have found no fault on part of the two women and their companions who had served the milk, as they belonged to a noble family and have no criminal record. They themselves had tasted the milk but remained stable,” the investigating officer said.
He suspected that some “insect” might had fallen into the milk container and poisoned it. However, the chemical examiner’s report is awaited, which would ascertain the actual cause.—Staff Reporter
