ISLAMABAD, Nov 5: The central executive committee of the All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference has welcomed resumption of composite dialogue between Pakistan and India and urged that the Kashmiris should be involved in the dialogue process.
In a meeting held here on Sunday under the chairmanship of party president and AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, the CEC reiterated accession of the state to Pakistan as the final objective of the Kashmiris and resolved to continue political struggle to achieve this goal.
The meeting supported the Kashmir vision of President General Pervez Musharraf. It urged upon the government of India to demonstrate flexibility in its attitude and respond positively to the sincere Kashmir overtures by the Pakistani president.
It appealed to global organisations including the United Nations, OIC European Union and big powers of the world to persuade India to desist from violations of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The meeting expressed its grave concern over rising human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir and called upon the government of India to stop these high-handedness by recalling occupation forces from the towns and villages of Kashmir, release Kashmiri political prisoners, respect human rights of Kashmiris, allow international human rights bodies entry into the occupied Kashmir and put an end to violation of 1960 Indus Water Basin Treaty.
The CEC of the MC reiterated its call for starting intra-Kashmir trade, enlarging travels and contacts and allowing frequent meetings among political and religious parties of the Kashmiris.
The meeting paid rich tributes to Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan for projecting the cause of Kashmiris during his recent tour to Europe and North America and in his historic addresses to the European Parliament and Kashmir Centre Brussels.
It warmly welcomed appointment of Mr Ezzet Kamel Mufti as special representative of the OIC secretary general on Kashmir and said it was reaffirmation of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The meeting held the sentence passed by an Indian court against peaceful Kashmiri citizen Muhammad Afzal Guru as illegal, immoral, revengeful and arbitrary and cautioned the Indian government that any action against Mr Guru could bear negative impact on Pakistan-India dialogue process.—APP
