HARIPUR, Nov 5: Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub Khan distributed electricity poles among 21 union councils of district Haripur here on Sunday.

The project worth Rs25 million is meant to augment existing electricity network and electrify scattered population of these remote union councils of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that earlier he had spent Rs140 million on electrification of 12 union councils while another Rs60 million were being spent on electrification of remaining parts of his constituency NA-19. He said by the end of 2007 there would be hardly any area without electricity in Haripur.

He said a gas supply project worth Rs380 million had been completed and villages of Gehr Khan, Murad Abad and Moonan would soon be provided natural gas during the current fiscal year.

He disclosed the PM had approved compensation of Rs100,000 for each victim of Kot Najibullah firing case while those who sustained bullet injuries would be paid Rs50,000 each.
