KARACHI: Chinese delegation feted

KARACHI, Nov 5: The friendship between peoples of China and Pakistan is ever lasting and it would further strengthen with the passage of time.

This was observed by Kui Fulin, head of the visiting delegation of the National People’s Congress of China, while speaking at a dinner hosted by the Sindh Assembly Speaker Muzaffar Hussain Shah on Saturday.

The eight-member delegation arrived here on Saturday night from Islamabad on the last leg of Pakistan visit.

Mr Fulin noted that the two countries were maintaining friendly and strategic relationship extending support to each other on major international issues. He said Chinese people valued the consistent support from their counterparts in Pakistan, particularly to the one-china policy, over the past 55 years.

Referring to the recent successful visit to China by President Musharraf and the upcoming visit by Chinese President to Pakistan, he said such visits were bound to promote friendly relations.

Welcoming the guests, Muzaffar Shah highlighted China’s help and cooperation in every field, and made mention of deep-sea port project in Gwadar, Chashma power project, defence cooperation, etc, and expressed gratitude for China’s support in getting Pakistan the status of observer in the Shanghai Economic Cooperation Association.

Earlier, the delegation paid a visit to the Sindh Assembly Building where Speaker Muzaffar Shah, Deputy Speaker Rahila Tiwana, Law Minister Iftikhar Chaudhry and Assembly Secretary Hadi Bux received the guests.
