KARACHI: Loya Jirga to launch movement as talks fail
KARACHI, Nov 5: The Pakhtoon Action Committee (calling itself the Loya Jirga) expressed its disappointment on Sunday over the outcome of its talks with Governor Ishratul Ibad and vowed to launch a practical struggle for solving the problems being faced by the Pakhtoon residents of Karachi.
At a meeting of the committee at the Bacha Khan Markaz here, its chairman Shahi Syed felt that the talks has failed as the government was just wasting time and not taking interest in resolving the problems.
“Since the government is not sincere in addressing the grievances of Pakhtoons living in Karachi, the Loya Jirga is left with no option but to launch an aggressive drive for their due rights,” he said while chairing the meeting. In the first phase of this campaign, corner meetings would be held across the city and a public rally in Keamari on November 19, he announced. He said that another public rally at the Bacha Khan Chowk (Banaras) would be held on December 3.
Mr Shahi said that the future strategy of the committee would also be announced at the Dec 3 rally.—PPI
