Aqeel, Sarah crowned champions

ISLAMABAD, Nov 4: Aqeel Khan and Sarah Mehboob were crowned men's and ladies singles champions respectively in the Arif Habib-Subh-i-Nau National Clay Court tennis championship at the Islamabad Club on Saturday.

In other finals on the last day of the championship, Mehboob Khan/Miletic Sergije won veterans’ doubles title while mixed doubles title went to Jalil Khan and Aamina Hamid.

In men's singles final, Aqeel Khan beat his younger brother Jalil Khan 6-3, 6-2 while Sarah Mehboob won the ladies singles final by the identical margin against Anoosha Aslam.

In veterans doubles, Mehboob Khan/Miletic Sergije outclassed Iftikhar Rashid/Khawar Hayat 6-1, 6-1 while the mixed pair of Jalil Khan/Aamina Hamid proved too good 8-3 against Nomi Qamar/Qurut-ul-Ain.—APP
