25 per cent decline in voters of Layyah

MULTAN, Nov 4: The newly-compiled voters list in Layyah district reveals a decrease of about 25 per cent voters. A total of 482,663 voters have been registered for the general elections of 2007 in Layyah. Of them, 282,286 are male and 200,377 female voters. While out of total 536,743 registered voters in 2001-02, 287,952 were male and 248,791 female voters.

According to details, a total of 250,573 new voters have been registered in Layyah tehsil with 145,434 male and 105,139 female voters.

In Karor tehsil, out of 160,908 newly-registered voters, 94,554 are male and 66,354 female voters.

The number of newly-registered voters in Chaubara tehsil is 67,725. Of them 40,283 are male and 27,424 female voters.

Similarly, there is an addition of 3,417 non-Muslim registered voters in Layyah district. Among them 2,015 are male and 1,402 female voters.

In Layyah tehsil, the newly-registered non-Muslim voters are 635 out of which

397 are male and 238 female voters.

MOOTS: Two Seraiki conferences will held here on Sunday (today).

With demands like more autonomy to provinces and establishment od a Seraiki province, hosts Seraiki Suba Mahaz and Pasban Peoples Seraiki Party have invited leaders from political and nationalist parties.
