Protest against kidnapping of student

Published November 3, 2006

PESHAWAR, Nov 2: Activists of the Islami Jamiat-i-Tulaba (IJT) staged a demonstration here on Thursday calling for immediate recovery of a kidnapped female student of the Peshawar University’s Institute of Education and Research.

The demonstration was held outside the Peshawar Press Club. They said that the student had been kidnapped three weeks ago while she was on her way to her home from the university along with her brother. The kidnappers had also thrashed her brother severely.

The protesters criticised the police and accused it of doing nothing despite the passage of three weeks after the incident. They accused the local member of the provincial assembly and the local police of favouring the kidnappers.
