HYDERABAD: Five submit nomination papers

HYDERABAD, Nov 2: Five candidates filed nomination papers on Thursday for the bye-election of two UC nazims of the city and Latifabad talukas. The following is scheduled for November 22.

The seats fell vacant after Haq Parast Group (HPG)-backed nazims, Raheel Kaimkhani and Mohammad Arshad Naeem, resigned from UC-9 (Latifabad) and UC-14 (city).

The candidates, Kamran Ahmed and Abdul Mujeeb submitted their papers to the returning officer of UC-9, Mrs Zarina Abbasi, the seventh additional district and sessions judge, while Ishtiaq Ali, Fayyazuddin, Haq Nawaz, Aqeel Naghar and Mir Balach submitted their papers for UC-14 to the returning officer, Mrs Abida Parveen, the civil judge and judicial magistrate-III.

The papers’ scrutiny would be conducted on Nov 7 and appeal against the rejection or acceptance of forms could be filed by Nov 8. The election commission has fixed Nov 11 for the withdrawal of forms and the final list will be displayed on Nov 13.

BUILDING CONTROL: The Building Control Department (BDC) of Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) has advised all the heads of the government and semi-government departments to get approval from BDC for the design of a building before raising any structure.

A notification issued by BDC on Wednesday said that in the wake of recent rains and earthquake, the Sindh government had, under the Building Control Ordinance 1979, made it mandatory to seek approval from the concerned authority (BCD) for building plan, especially structural design and drawing before raising any construction.

FOCAL PERSON: The medical superintendent of the Liaquat University Hospital announced that Dr Saleem Raza Memon, additional medical superintendent, was nominated as focal person for dengue virus/hemorrhagic cases.
