Indian PM wants friendly relations

By Our Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Nov 1: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday defended his policy for closer ties with the United States and said New Delhi wanted to have friendly relations with Pakistan too despite terror issues with Islamabad.

“We are trying to develop friendly ties with Pakistan despite difficulties arising out of their support for terrorist operations directed against India,” Dr Singh was quoted as telling his Congress party colleagues in the southern city of Trivandrum.
