Khalid Atlas wins qualifier

ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: Khalid Atlas of Pakistan defeated Joshua Greenfield of New Zealand in straight sets at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Wednesday to enter second leg of qualifiers for the CAS International squash championship.

Eight matches were played on the first day of the two-day qualifying round with winners going to four second-leg qualifying matches on Thursday.

The four qualifiers will join 12 players who are already in the main draw of the US$25,000 championship. The main draw of the 16 players will start on Friday with its final on Monday.

Borjan Golan of Spain is the top seed in the tournament while there are six Pakistanis in the main draw of 12 players.

They are: Borjan Golan (Spain), Aaron Frankcomb (Australia), Omar Masaad (Egypt), Omer Abdul Aziz (Egypt), Kashif Shuja (New Zealand), Joey Barrington (England); Shahid Zaman, Khayal Mohammad Khan, Amjad Khan, Aamir Atlas Khan, Bilal Zaman and Mansoor Zaman (all from Pakistan).
