KARACHI: Infant dies, three injured as roof collapses

KARACHI, Nov 1: An infant girl died and her family members were injured when roof of their house collapsed in Gharibabad area Wednesday morning. Hearing the bang, neighbours rushed to the rescue of the occupants of the house and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, police said.
Police said five-month-old Zohra was pronounced dead by the doctors while her sisters, Maria, Maliha, their father Ali were provided treatment for their injuries.
Police said a wall had collapsed falling on the roof made up of tin sheets causing death and injuries to the family members.
Police said construction was carried out in an unsafe manner in the densely-populated area.
HOLDUP: Bandits struck at two fuel stations on Wednesday.
Police said according to reports bandits came to the filling station located at Dalmia Road.
However, they took away Rs3000 from the Dalmia filling station. Little later police suspected that the same bandits struck at the CNG filling station located opposite Safari Park on main University Road.
A duty officer of the Mubina Town police station said that bandits came to the CNG station at around 4 am and deprived the cashier Hafeez Khan of Rs60,000.
Police said that the security guard who was supposed to be on duty was asleep at the time of the hold-up.
Police said that cashier managed to note the registration number of the car used by the bandits.
ARRESTED: Ibrahim Hyderi police arrested a proclaimed offender, wanted by Punjab police in over 50 criminal cases, and recovered a TT pistol from him.
DSP Sukkan Rehmatullah said that the police on a tip-off raided a place and arrested Shaukat Hussain alias Shauki while his accomplice escaped. He said that besides 50 criminal cases the suspect was involved in various cases of Bin Qasim town.
