Ford sales up

NEW YORK, Nov 1: Ford Motor Co. said on Wednesday that its total US vehicle sales rose eight per cent in October compared with a year ago to 215,985 units, marking its second straight monthly sales gain.

The ailing carmaker which has struggled to keep up the sales momentum of its big sports utility vehicles (SUVs) said truck sales, which include the SUV category, rose slightly by one per cent while passenger car sales fared much better, rising 22 per cent on the year ago period.

Ford said it sold a total 133,036 trucks during the month against car sales of 82,949 units.—AFP
