Shoaib, Asif bowl at NCA

LAHORE, Oct 31: Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif were seen in action at the National Cricket Academy on Tuesday, for the first time since failing a dope test on Oct 16.

Shoaib and Asif, who missed the Champions Trophy, due to positive test and are facing the PCB tribunal investigating the charges, did bowling in the academy for one hour with full zeal and fervour.

The duo has been advised by the PCB not to speak to the press during the hearing.

They will again appear before the tribunal, headed by Barrister Shahid Hamid, on Wednesday and that could be the final hearing, as the chairman had announced that he would like to submit the recommendations to the PCB shortly.

The tribunal has summoned team coach Bob Woolmer, trainer Murray Stevenson, physio Darren Lifsun for Wednesday's hearing.

Meanwhile, the way Shoaib and Asif bowled on Wednesday it seemed they had received the green signal and could figure in the series against West Indies.

Coach Woolmer has reportedly said there was a ray of hope for Shoaib and Asif being acquitted.
