Hunger strike in protest against water shortage

NAWABSHAH, Oct 31: Two tail-end growers of Jado and Jamal Shah minor continued their hunger strike in protest against shortage of irrigation water for the second day opposite the press club here on Tuesday.

Nihal Jam Unnar and Shahnawaz Khoso of Jamal Shah and Jado minor of the Dad irrigation division went on the hunger strike on Monday in a camp opposite the press club against the irrigation officials for not supplying water to their watercourses for a long time.

The protesters said that there was no water for tail-end growers and their land lying dry.

NAZIM: The district government was taking all possible efforts to provide all basic facilities of life to the devotees at the Dargah Sharif of Syed Asghar Ali Shah (Sakhi Jam Datar).

This was stated by District Nazim Faryal Talpur after laying floral wreath at the Maser of Syed Asghar Ali Shah on the first day of Urs at the Mazar Sharif in Jam Saheb.

She said that the district government was taking all possible efforts to provide all basic facilities of life to the devotees at the Dargah Sharif.

Earlier, the chief administrator of the Sindh Auqaf Department, Shahabuddin Channa, inaugurated the annual Urs and Mela of Syed Asghar Ali Shah by lying floral wreath at the Mazar Sharif.

ENTRY TEST: The registrar of the Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology announced on Monday that pre-entry test for admission to the first year (2007 batch) would be held on November 12 at B-Sector at 10.30 am.

He advised the candidates to collect their admit cards from the office of assistant registrar on November 1 and 2.
