HARIPUR, Oct 31: The unit No 4 of the Tarbela power house will restart operation by the second week of November, official sources said on Tuesday. The 175MW unit was damaged on Sept 24 when a major part of the country experienced a worst-ever power breakdown.

Wapda engineers have been repairing the unit and the work is near completion. “We have got it repaired by 80 per cent enabling Wapda to bring it into operation hopefully by the second week of November,” officials said.

The sources pointed out that this was for the first time that local engineers had carried out the repair work unlike the past practice when expensive services of foreign firms were acquired.

Meanwhile, a three-member team of the Heavy Electrical Complex Hattar visited unit No 10 of the same power house that had gone out of order on Oct 24.

The team would submit its report about the nature of damage, cost of repair and duration required for the work to Wapda high-ups in next 10 days.
