KARACHI, Oct 31: Al-Khidmat Welfare Society has published and distributed millions of pamphlets among the masses as part of its mass awareness campaign regarding dengue hemorrhagic fever, its causes, symptoms and preventive measures.

According to a press release issued by the Al-Khidmat Society on Tuesday, these pamphlets were distributed at its basic health units, clinics and various public places and spots.

General Secretary of the society Dr Tabasum Jaffery expressed his deep concern over spread of deadly fever and said that provincial government was totally failed in curbing the outbreak of epidemic.

To date, over 216 patients were tested positive of dengue hemorrhagic fever only in Karachi who were being treated at different local hospitals while a number of persons had lost their lives due to the criminal negligence of the authorities concerned. He alleged that instead of starting fumigation spray in the residential areas, the government was just trying to hoodwink people by making claims of carrying out fumigation and fogging sprays through local media.

Dr Jaffery demanded government to take concrete measures to control the situation and launch a comprehensive fumigation campaign to control the spread of deadly disease.—PPI
