SBP’s directive to banks


KARACHI, Oct 31: The State Bank of Pakistan, as part of restructuring, has decided to consolidate the licensing, regulation and corporate governance of commercial banks, Islamic banks and micro-finance banks at Banking Policy and Regulations Department (BPRD).

According to the BPRD circular No. 24, the central bank has asked all banks, DFIs and micro-finance banks to refer all matters relating to licenses (banks and branches/booths), corporate governance and regulations to the BPRD with effect from November 1, 2006.—APP
