LAHORE, Oct 29: A spokesman for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has ruled out the possibility of his boss sending an application to the “unconstitutional regime” to seek permission for returning to Pakistan.

In a statement on Sunday, the spokesman insisted that Mr Sharif would return to Pakistan and take part in the election.

Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani had told reporters that Mr Sharif would have to move an application to seek permission to come back to Pakistan.

He said under the deal, the PML-N leader was supposed to stay out of the country for 10 years.

PML-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq also said in a statement that there was no need for Mr Sharif to move an application to seek permission to come back to Pakistan.

He said under the Constitution, any citizen of Pakistan had the right to return to his home without moving any application to any authority.

BENAZIR: PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto on Sunday directed party workers to prepare themselves for the next general election.

At a meeting with them in Dubai, she said she would return to Pakistan before the election and also contest the polls.

Punjab PPP president Qasim Zia, Dr Safdar Abbasi, Mahmood Dar, Asad Muazzam, Mushtaq Gujjar, Bashir Gujjar and Usman Punnu met the former prime minister and exchanged views on the situation in the country.

The PPP chairperson praised the leaders and workers who were rendering sacrifices for democracy.
