KARACHI, Oct 29: Leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that Sindh is virtually under governor’s rule as all decisions in the provincial affairs are taken in Islamabad as per the wishes of the governor and the party he belongs to.
Talking to various delegations Ibrahim Hyderi, Rehri Village, Bin Qasim Town, Gadap Town, etc. at his residence on Sunday, Mr Khuhro described the CM’s House as just a post office.
The delegations apprised the opposition leader about the alleged granting of land to builder mafia and others illegally and the cancellation of old leases in their areas.Mr Khuhro pointed out that there were non-political governors appointed for three provinces whereas it was only Sindh for which a political figure belonging to a party in the ruling coalition had been imposed on the people of this province. He said the governor was installed to be used against the interests of province and neglecting the office of the chief minister.
He said that the explanation given by Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim with regard to the Sindh government’s stance on the controversial allotment of two islands was insufficient, and said that the chief minister’s act was an attempt to escape from his responsibility.
“In fact, under the patronage of the military chief, the governor is using the chief minister in this land scam to deprive Sindh of its thousands of acres of land,” he alleged, adding, “If it is not so, the chief minister should have given this explanation on the floor of the Sindh Assembly. He should also prove that no illegal allotment of land has ever been made during his tenure.”
He argued that if it was incorrect, why the secretary land utilisation had been inducted in a federal committee to conduct an inquiry into the affair.
Mr Khuhro said he was sure that the chief minister had no satisfactory explanation in this regard, and vowed to raise this issue in the parliament, and also move court if necessary.
