KARACHI: Prompt relief to dengue patients ordered

KARACHI, Oct 29: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Saturday ordered for taking stern action against the hospitals which were overcharging patients for diagnosis and treatment of dengue fever.

He asked the health department to step up efforts to provide in time and adequate relief to people besides having a strict eye on such hospitals.

He directed the officials concerned to ensure prompt provision of health care facilities at public hospitals.

The governor made it clear that any sort of delay in providing medical facilities to people; overcharging during treatment and negligence in professional duties were against medical ethics as well as moral values.

He directed the institutions concerned to make effective fumigation and take other precautionary measures to prevent spread of dengue virus and emphasised on accelerating public awareness campaign.

“This is a collective responsibility and in this regard information is being provided to media on regular basis,” he remarked.

He asked religious scholars to create more awareness among people in their sermons and in educational institutes. He expressed hope that public would continue to adopt precautionary measures at their homes. —PPI
