LAHORE, Oct 28: Two top speedy colts are to measure each other's strides when they clash for supremacy in the Eid Cup during the post-Eid-ul-Fitr Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

With an unbeaten three win streak, three-year-old chestnut colt, Nosha, takes on bay colt First Look in a class IV handicap race to be gone over the sprinting distance of 1200m.

Both colts have been racing well over the sprinting and middle distance races, returning good timings and are vying to begin a classic battle but not the last in a field of a dozen runners barring last-minute withdrawals.

On timing Nosha is the first fancy while the handicap gives an edge to First Look.

Sunday's card also features the Gujrat Cup, a class I, II and III combined handicap event. Of the nine colts and fillies including imported thoroughbreds drawn for the four are on chance.

They are Trace Hit, Sher-e-Gujrat, River Dancer and Fajr. They are to meet over the grueling distance of 1800m in preparation for other classic events which they eye during the on going season.

If on job this race will provide the sports fans , a memorable spectacle which they will remember for a long time and a decider who stays over the distance?

The previous running of River Dancer makes him a doubtful stayer while Trace hit and Fajr come from the same stable and although the former is handicapped at nine stones two pounds yet capable to deliver good . Saving Grace will be on the course for the first time leaving Trace Hit, Sher-e-Gujrat and River Dancer in for the clash.

Top weight at 9-1 in the handicap, Charismatic, is being favoured in the Wazirabad Plate class IV division III 0ver 1200 metres. He should be followed by Chill and fido Dido in the same order.

Dark-bay filly Julia Robert, who was beaten by Noor in her last outing on Oct 15 should make amends and win this time in the Gujjar Khan Plate, class V division I handicap race over 1200 metrers.

The filly donning the colours of former international hockey star, Munir Dar may face strong opposition from Great Murad, Jewna and Ministry.

A card of six events will be gone through in which 71 acceptors will be facing the starter, if there are no last-minute withdarawls. The first race will start at 1.30pm.
