QUETTA, Oct 28: Jamhoori Watan Party’s office-bearers, including secretary-general of the party Senator Agha Shahid Hassan Bugti and MPAs Mir Saleem Khoso and Dr Rubaba Khan have resigned from their posts and stated that they had tendered resignations to save the Nawab Bugti’s family from crisis.
In a statement issued here on Friday night, they said that during the past 16 years, they had remained loyal to the party under the leadership of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
They stated they were glad that Nawab Bugti had reposed his trust in them till the last moment of his life, adding that they had sincerely played their role to take forward the mission of the late leader.
They regretted that a son of Nawab Bugti and some other members of Nawab Bugti’s family had expressed no-confidence on the party’s leadership by “blaming us for hijacking the Jamhoori Watan Party” despite the fact that under the present circumstances, association with the party was difficult to say the least.
They asserted that they had endured all kinds of government pressure without compromising on principles and said that they had rejected the government’s call to part ways with Nawab Bugti in crisis.
They said that they had always maintained that affairs of all political parties should be run in accordance with their manifestos and constitutions.
They said that the party’s central executive committee had reposed its confidence in the party leadership in its meeting held on Sept 16 and allowed it to continue to work till the election of a new party chief.
They said that although Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti’s statement did not reflect or represent the views of the entire Bugti family but keeping in view the respect for the late leader and also to avoid dispute between the party and the family members “we have decided to resign from party posts”.
The party’s senior vice-president Mir Manzoor Hussain Khoso, information secretary Amanullah Kanrani and members of the central executive committee Sardar Umar and Syed Muhammad Ali Agha also resigned.
