KARACHI: Cardiology moot today

KARACHI, Oct 28: The first national hands-on training programme in non-invasive cardio-imaging for local cardiologists and radiologists is scheduled to be held here on Sunday.

The session initiated by National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in collaboration with Advanced Radiology Clinic - Karachi is part of a day-long CT Coronary Angiography Symposium, Prof Azhar Masood Farooqui, said in a press release issued here on Saturday.

The programme is said to be extremely crucial as experience of local cardiologists and radiologists in utilising the latest technology is very limited.

Prof Farooqui, the convener, CT Coronary Angiography Symposium said that the training first of its kind in the country had been chalked out to offer the participants a hands-on experience on CTA workstation, paving way for efficient non invasive cardio-vascular imaging.

The training session to commence at 9am sharp at a local hotel is being organised as an introductory course in the basic and applied aspects of CT Coronary Angiography.

The participants are expected to be provided with an opportunity to learn the theoretical background, the technique, post processing, interpretation and generation of CT Coronary Angiography report.

The last session of the programme would provide the participants an opportunity for hands-on demonstration and experience on workstations, image reconstruction and quality assessment of the major vendors.

Dr Rashid Ahmed announced that application forms for membership of Pakistan Society of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging will be available during the training programme.—APP
