Technical support

Karachi, Oct 28: Pakistan called for expanding technical assistance to developing countries, including training and capacity building, to improve the life of the slum-dwellers.

This was stated by Pakistan's delegate Asad Khan while addressing the UN General Assembly Economic Committee in New York. He said that the pro-poor policies with a focus on tenure security and access to affordable housing were needed more than ever before. He spoke about series of measures taken by Pakistan to overcome the serious challenges of urbanisation, including establishing new housing projects for the middle and low-income groups and encouraging private sector investment in housing sector.—PPI
