ISLAMABAD, Oct 27: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehood Kasuri and Spanish Health Minister Elena Salgado on Friday discussed issues pertaining to bilateral relations, Afghanistan, illegal immigration and human trafficking.
The Spanish minister accompanied by senior foreign ministry and other officials called on Foreign Minister Kasuri here at the Foreign Office.
The two ministers discussed bilateral ties, “which are characterised by shared values of common perception on various important issues and convergence of interest in many areas”.
They agreed that regular high-level contacts have provided an impetus to strengthening bilateral cooperation in diverse fields between the two countries. They expressed satisfaction at the cooperation existing between the two countries in various fields.
The foreign minister briefed the Spanish minister about the latest developments on Afghanistan where Spain has a large number of troops under Nato command. The two ministers also discussed the question of Pakistani community in Spain and Pakistan Government’s commitment to curbing illegal immigration and human trafficking.
Foreign minister Kasuri briefed the Spanish minister about various measures and legislation undertaken to deal with this issue. The two ministers discussed matters of mutual interest including Spanish candidature for the election of the Director General, World Health Organization and principles and strategies for a new phase in the WHO.—APP
