Qazi criticises US

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Oct 27: The US has amassed so much of weaponry that it can destroy the world many times and has also arrogated itself the subjective right to carry out a pre-emptive strike wherever it smells danger.

This was what Qazi Husain Ahmad, the chief of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, opined on Eidul Fitr.

A press release issued on Friday quoted him as having said that both the factors made the USA the biggest terrorist on the face of earth, though it had been declaring everyone else a terrorist and moving against others on political grounds.

The Muslim world was going through a hard time but it must not forget its past sacrifices and should continue to do so because Islam forbade surrendering before a tyrant, he said.

He said the slogan “Pakistan First” by Gen Musharraf was meant for befooling people.

Meanwhile, Syed Munawar Husain, the Jamaat-i-Islami secretary-general, said in a press statement that war on terrorism was in fact a war against Islam.

“President Bush has already compared it with crusades and is saying if Jehadi forces are not stopped in Iraq, they will be in power in every country — from Indonesia to Spain.

“The West, unable or unwilling to understand the message of the Holy Quran, is portraying it as a book of war. They are also insisting that in order to achieve peace in the world, the Holy Quran and its message must be taken out of the Muslim mind. That’s why they now want the Muslim countries to change syllabi so that children could be deprived of the message of the Holy Quran and Islam,” the JI leader said.
