Plastic goods burnt

GUJRANWALA, Oct 27: A fire in a factory on Ferozewala Road reduced plastic goods to ashes on Friday.

The fire reportedly broke out due to short circuit. The people of area informed its owners Bashir Ahmad and Munir Ahmad by phone. They reached the spot and arranged fire brigade who put out the blaze after two hours’ efforts.

Death warrants: A local court on Friday issued death warrant for a convict for Oct 31.

According to prosecution, Ashraf had killed Arshad and injured his wife Razia during a robbery in Alipur Chattha in 1993. An anti-terrorism court handed him down death sentence. The Lahore High Court, Supreme Court and the president rejected his appeals.

Later, he got stay order from the Lahore High Court on a petition that efforts for mediation with the victim’s family were going on. But the efforts could not be succeeded and the court dismissed his petition with intimation to the court concerned.

RECOVERED: Police recovered a religious leader who was kidnapped from Kamoki a few days ago from Faisalabad on Friday.

Police said Zafar and his accomplices had kidnapped Allama Aziz Yazdani over an enmity and kept him in a house in Faisalabad. They received information and raided the house. However, none of the kidnappers could be arrested.

A case has been registered against the accused.

INTER EXAMS: Intermediate supplementary examinations, 2006, will commence on Oct 31.

The BISE advised the candidates on Friday who have not yet received roll number slips to contact the board office.

HELD: A robbery accused who escaped from police custody a few days ago was arrested from Gondlanwala village on Friday.

Aroop police arrested Talib and sent him to jail after completing investigation. Later, Civil Lines police brought him from jail on physical remand for his involvement in another dacoity case. He escaped from police custody two days before Eidul Fitr.
