LAHORE, Oct 27: At least 17 people were killed and several others suffered injuries in different incidents during Eid days.
Reports said some armed men entered the shop of Nawaz, 40, a bread seller, on the Millat Road and opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. The deceased’s family, however, claimed he had no enmity.
Qaisar, 25, had a quarrel with Bhola at a billiards club in Barni Street, Garhi Shahu, while playing the game. Bhola attacked Qaisar with a knife and the latter was rushed to hospital where he died.
Asif, 28, of Sherakot had a quarrel with his friend Kamran over a petty issue a couple of days ago. The elders of the families had mediated between them but on Wednesday Kamran, along with his accomplices, attacked and killed Asif.
Sardar of Liaquatabad had a property dispute with his brother Abdus Sattar. On Thursday, Sattar along with his son attacked his brother with sticks and injured him. He was taken to hospital where he died.
In Lower Mall area, Heera Gujjar along with his accomplices shot dead Bashir, 40, a milkman, over a petty issue.
Khalid Pervaiz had a dispute with his in-laws over some issue. On Wednesday, Pervaiz went to his in-laws house in Nishat Colony, South Cantonment, where he exchanged harsh words with his wife, her parents and brother and shot at and injured them. They were taken to hospital where his mother-in-law Fatima Bibi, 55, died while the condition of his wife Ruqqaia, brother-in-law Tariq and father-in-law Azam was stated to be critical.
In Shahdara, Noor Muhammad, 40, died after consuming poisonous substance which he was given by a swindler.
Bilal, 25, who suffered injuries during a robbery bid a couple of days ago in Mughalpura, died in a hospital here on Friday.
Two young brothers — Omair and Zubair — of Faisal Town were going by a car when it rammed into a tree in the area reportedly due to over-speeding. They were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
Kashif was going on a motorcycle along with his friend Ijaz when a speeding truck hit them in Shalamar. They were removed to the Shalamar Hospital where Kashif died while the condition of Ijaz was stated to be critical.
Salma Bibi, 38, a nomad, was going on a donkey cart along with her nephew Ali Rizwan, 8, in Shadbagh when a truck hit it. They suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital where they died.
In another incident, Asif was going somewhere with his friend Nawaz on a two-wheeler on the Raiwind Road when it collided with an oil tanker. Asif died on the spot while Nawaz’s condition was said to be critical in a hospital.
Rehan Bibi, 60, was crossing road in Chungi Amar Sadhu when a speeding van hit her, killing her on the spot. While a six-year old girl was crossing the road in Racecourse area when a speeding van hit and killed her on the spot.
An unidentified man, 25, was going on a bicycle when a van hit it. He was rushed to hospital where he died.
Five youngsters suffered injuries while doing a wheelie on The Mall, Shah Jamal and Dharampura areas.
Some 20 or so passengers suffered injuries when a bus overturned in Sundar on the Manga Road. They were admitted to the Jinnah Hospital where most of them were discharged after the first aid.
FOUND DEAD: Two elderly people were found dead in Batapur and Shahdara during Eid days. The bodies were sent to the city morgue.
