KARACHI: Rickshaw driver shot dead

KARACHI, Oct 27: A rickshaw driver was shot dead on resistance by cellphone snatchers near Gharibabad underpass on Wednesday (Eid day). Police said that the victim identified as Ahmed Zaman was approaching the underpass in his auto-rickshaw when two suspects on a motorcycle intercepted him.

Police said that on resistance the bandits shot Zaman in the head before fleeing from the spot.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

In another incident, a young man was shot dead by unknown persons in Jodia Bazaar.

Police said that Mohammad Shoaib, 25, a resident of Nanakwara, was shot dead by unknown persons in Jodia Bazaar Wednesday night. The victim was shot in the head and neck, police added.

He was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police are still clueless about the motive behind the killing.

INJURED: Two bandits fell unconscious when they were severely beaten up by people after they got caught while fleeing following a dacoity in Korangi on Friday.

In similar circumstances two bandits were beaten to death by the people in New Karachi last week.

TPO Korangi Sohail Zafar Chatta said that in Friday’s incident, two bandits who were later identified as Nasir and Aslam came to a cellphone shop in Chakra Goth in Korangi.

When they were fleeing after carrying out the dacoity people of the area managed to caught them, however, in their bid to escape they used their pistol injuring Shemon Ali.

When the bandits were handed over to the police, they were unconscious, the TPO informed. They were shifted to the hospital along with the injured pedestrian.

Police recovered 4 mobile phones and two pistols from their possession.
