Malaysian palm oil exports up 7.4pc


KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27: Exports of Malaysian oil products for October 1-25 rose 7.4 per cent to 1,178,379 tons from the 1,097,233 tons shipped between Sept 1 and 25, cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance said on Thursday.

SGS said the estimate comprised 1,041,233 tons of palm oils and 137,146 tons of oleochemicals and lauric oils.

In the palm oils category, 127,362 tons were made up of refined, bleached and deodorised (RBD) palm oil, 390,642 tons of RBD palm olein, 111,520 tons of RBD palm stearin and 239,204 tons of crude palm oil.

China was again the biggest buyer of Malaysian oil palm products for Oct 1-25, taking 253,342 tons, followed by the United States with 120,855 tons and Pakistan with 81,850 tons.

European Union countries, another major destination, bought a total 303,474 tons. —Reuters
