ISLAMABAD, Oct 24: Judicial Magistrate Jawad Mughal on Tuesday remanded the three rocket plot suspects arrested on Monday in police custody for three days, official sources said.

Khalil Wine, the alleged mastermind, was arrested along with his two accomplices, Munir Akhtar and Ali Ahmed Gondle, by the security agencies near the Industrial Area police station.

The car in which they were travelling was also impounded.

Munir is a technician at Air Weapon Wing complex, while Ali Ahmed is an electronics engineer (posted as assistant system manager) at the complex.

Son of a retired brigadier doctor, Khalil, said to in his 20s, is an MBA degree holder who runs a pharmaceutical business in Westridge Rawalpindi along with his cousin Javaid Wine, a graduate, who was among the eight suspects already remanded in police custody.

Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Sikandar Hayat said the three arrests were made following information provided by the eight others accused arrested earlier.

The SSP said: “They (the arrested persons) belonged to a banned militant group Lashkar-i-Taiba and had links with Al Qaeda.”

The joint investigation team, comprising officials of security agencies and police, has finalised the inquiry report which would be presented to President Gen Pervez Musharraf and the secretary interior.
