Qazi urges Muslims to forge unity

Published October 25, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 24: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal president and Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has asked the Muslims to shun internal differences and forge a complete unity to counter enemy conspiracies.

In his Eid message on Tuesday, the Qazi said this year again witnessed the merciless killings of Muslims by the US and its allies, while Muslim rulers have become silent spectators instead of helping the helpless.

He said as hundreds of innocent Muslims were being killed in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere in the world, Muslim rulers like Gen Musharraf were actually carrying out the US agenda.

He said Gen Musharraf unleashed a corrupt system in the country in which groups of plunderers were ruling the roost, widening the gap between the rich and the poor, increasing poverty and unemployment, which was evident from the sharp increase in suicides.

The MMA leader invited the nation to adopt a courageous approach to change the corrupt system to solve all the problems faced by the poor. He appealed to the people not to forget the have-nots on the occasion, particularly the survivors of earthquake, and make them share the joys of Eid by wholeheartedly donating for them.
