PESHAWAR, Oct 24: NWFP governments campaign against festive firings failed to yield results as people in the provincial capital resorted to aerial firing soon after sighting the Eid crescent.

Provincial Minister for Information Asif Iqbal Daudzai had held a series of meetings with police high-ups and shaped up the campaign. He had warned that if the SHOs failed to control aerial firing within their jurisdictions on Eid, strict action would be taken against them.—PPI
