PESHAWAR: Film buffs throng cinemas

PESHAWAR, Oct 24: After remaining closed during the holy month of Ramazan, cinema halls in the city reopened on Monday and witnessed a heavy rush of film buffs.

Large advertisement hoardings drew visitors in big numbers to new Pahsto films specially released on the occasion of Eid.

Some of the people complained that in order to make up for the loss of earnings during Ramazan, many cinemas had almost doubled the ticket price. Cinema managers, however, rejected the assertion.

“We did face huge losses due to cinema closure during Ramazan, but we never tried to pass this loss on to the viewers,” said Saleh Mohammed alias Babu, who is the incharge of Sabrina and Aaina, two major cinemas of the city.

He said the provincial government compelled the owners to keep the cinemas closed, but did not compensate them for their revenue loss.—PPI
