Security

LAHORE, Oct 23: On the directives of Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Ziaul Hasan Khan, security has further been tightened to maintain peace and avoid any untoward incident in the province on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

A Punjab police spokesman said here on Monday that law enforcement personnel in uniform and plain clothes would remain alert at Eidgahs, mosques, imambargahs, markets, railway stations, lorry addas and other sensitive and public places.

“Police contingents are patrolling to keep vigilance on criminals round the clock so that security of masses could be ensured,” he added.

He said the Punjab police have arrested 1,068 proclaimed offenders and 921 court absconders, and recovered 2,490 illicit weapons including Kalashnikovs, rifles, revolvers, pistols, daggers and cartridges, and stolen goods from their possession during general hold-up throughout the province.—APP
