KARACHI, Oct 23: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed all private blood banks and laboratories to charge only 50 per cent of free for the tests of dengue fever as the remaining 50 per cent would be paid by city government.

Lab and blood test facilities are also being provided to the patients at all CDGK-run hospitals, including Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and New Karachi Hospital, free of cost.

Mr Kamal said that fumigation in different parts of the city was being carried out to eliminate the mosquitoes responsible for the outbreak. This process would continue until the desired results were achieved, he added.

The city nazim said that two rounds of fumigation across the city had already been completed whereas the third round would start soon.

“We had completed preparations at the earliest. The CDGK had only four vehicles but we provided three vehicles to each town and 10 more vehicles were also being arranged. Now, 80 vehicles are there in the campaign carrying out fumigation in the morning and evening hours across the city,” said the city nazim.

Meanwhile, 30 vehicles carried out spray in 12 UCs of Saddar Town before sunrise on Monday.—PPI
