KARACHI: Police told to beef up security on Eid


KARACHI, Oct 23: Sindh IGP Jehangir Mirza on Monday directed the Capital City Police Officer, Additional IGP, Special Branch, DIG CID and Regional Police Officers Hyderabad and Sukkur to undertake security measures on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

A week before Eid, there was often significant increase in street crimes due to great rush of shoppers in all major shopping centres in the city, he observed.

He directed police officers to take special security measures in order to control street crimes in and around all shopping centres and provide safe and free environment to shoppers.

In wake of looming sectarian threat, Jhangir Mirza directed police to provide effective security cover to all major Eid congregations, especially sensitive mosques and Imambargahs, in Karachi as well as other major towns of Sindh.

The provincial police chief directed that all Eid functions should be properly covered by police especially in big town of Sindh.

He also directed to take extra security precaution to foil the inimical designs of saboteurs and anti-social elements.

Jehangir Mirza also directed DIG Traffic to chalk out a comprehensive traffic plan for Eid days.—PPI
