Pakistan fall to 162 in FIFA rankings

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Oct 22: Pakistan slipped down to 162 from 160 in the latest FIFA World ranking, announced by the game's governing body for October, 2006. The continuous fall in rankings started last August when Pakistan were steadily ranked at 152.

The fall in ranking is mainly due to Pakistan’s poor display in the ongoing Asia Cup qualifying round in which Pakistan have lost all five matches played on home and away basis against Oman, Jordan and home leg against UAE.

In the last match of the qualifiers, Pakistan meet UAE in Dubai on Nov 15.

Pakistan coach, Salman Sharida a Bahraini, however, was satisfied with the performance of the team saying it was gaining good experience by playing against well-ranked teams of Jordan, Oman and UAE.
