KARACHI, Oct 22: The naib nazim of a union council shot himself dead in the PECHS on late Saturday night.
Giving details of the incident, police said Razia Khatoon, 26 and mother of three, had shifted to a house in PECHS Block-2 over a month back after taking divorce from her husband.
Police said Shams Adnan Kabir, 30, naib nazim of UC-9, Liaquatabad, had helped the woman get divorce from her husband. The naib nazim also arranged the house on rent for the woman in the PECHS, police added.
A senior police officer of Jamshad Town said that according to the initial investigations, Mr Kabir had come to Razia’s house reportedly to take her out for Eid shopping.
However, he took out his pistol and shot himself in the temple in her house, police said. Under what circumstance he did this was not clear, police said.
But according to the statement of Razia Khatoon, Kabir had shown his pistol to her, on which she replied to keep it away. Instead he kept at his temple saying that it was not working and pulled the trigger.
Police believed that a bullet might have already been stuck in the pistol’s chamber of which the victim was unaware.
