IJT to observe protest day on Eid

Published October 22, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 21: The Islami Jamiat Tulaba has announced observing protest day on Eidul Fitr all over the province as a mark of resentment against students’ expulsion and launching of music classes at the Punjab University.

The IJT is also criticising the PU vice-chancellor for his alleged corruption in the university.

Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, IJT south Punjab nazim Allah Bakhsh Leghari and Lahore nazim Hafis Muhammad Hasaan said the Jamiat would not suspend its protest campaign owing to the Eid and continue to speed it up.

They said the IJT would contact ulema and khateebs in all major and small cities in the province and appeal them to raise their voice from mosques and form public opinion against promotion of music and dance culture at PU and reinstatement of the expelled students.
