NEW DELHI, Oct 20: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Friday he had accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan.

“I have accepted the invitation,” he told reporters in New Delhi, the Press Trust of India news agency said.

The invitation was extended to him by President Pervez Musharraf in April last year and repeated last month when they met in Havana.

A joint statement issued after the Havana talks said: “The president of Pakistan renewed his invitation to the prime minister of India to visit Pakistan. “Thanking the president, the prime minister indicated that he looked forward to a purposeful visit at a time to be determined through diplomatic channels.”—AFP
