KARACHI, Oct 19: With his personal efforts, Sindh Adviser for Home Waseem Akhtar got released 21 Chinese from the Central Prison of Karachi on Thursday.

Earlier, the Chinese consul-general, Sun Chun Ye, met the adviser in his office and informed him about the arrest of 21 Chinese at the Karachi airport while they were going to Europe on fake Korean passports, and sought accelerated process for their release as court cases against them had already been disposed of.

He asked the adviser that these detainees be handed over to the Chinese government for further action.

Waseem Akhtar talked to Home Secretary Ghulam Mohammed Mohtaram and FIA Director Ramzan Channa and got issued orders for the release of the 21 Chinese.

He assured of all cooperation to Chinese consulate so that the Chinese after release could leave for home by 11pm flight on Thursday. Chinese Commercial Counsellors Zhao Qingmao and Zhou Yuxiang were also present on the occasion. — APP
